Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.
Viewers can expect discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
